Mind the gap contest

Riccardo and me (Michael) wanted to take a look at the Mind the Gap contest. They asked me if a wanted to join the contest. Why not give it a shot I thought. But MC Sloeri turned up this friendly demo/jam sessie in a serieus bmx contest. Everyone wanted to go for first place with putting in tricks like, flipwhip, 360 whips, flairs.. Pim van den Bos took first place with a crazy bank to bank gap front flip.. I don’t know what was going on in his mind doing that gap! haha Myself I took 4e place. Great contest..!

040WINTERJAM

While the simple session was going on in Estonia, was the Dutch scene jamming in Eindhoven.
Pim van den Bos and his Dad has organized the 040 Winterjam. At the same time as the simpel session.
During the day The Simple Session was broadcasted on two big screen, one in the park and the second in a little created cinema.
Special for the jam Pim and his Dad has build a resibox.
The whole day the resibox was the centre of the day. Many bmx-ers tried to make a lot of flipcombinations, happy with the first resi in Holland.
And to satisfy the hunger there was the Hot-saakje-dog-bar from Arnhem. She made the most lovely hotdog and brownies for the boys.
The day ended with a little Jamsession. Lots of prices where sponsored by Paul's Boutique, Vans, Snafu and Protect. DJ Joerie entained the public with his jokes.
Thanks to all the riders sponsors and of course Pim and his Dad!

On the pics we see Joeri on the mic and Michael on snooze, Dennis with his nofoted cancan one hander and a flip ofcourse Pim with his fronty an flips and me behind the camera.

3 and 4th october The Paul's Boutique team riders entertained the crowd with some dirt jump demos over the weekend ad the atrachtiepark Slagharen on the oldschool bmx reunion. Dennis Keunen even managed to pull several flips which he had just learned a few weeks prior to the show. With flip master Pim van den Bos out with a broken ankle this move was very welcome. What's a show without a flip? Michael van der Lee and Riccardo Moes kept the show going. All in all some live BMX-ing next to the hall where the infamous KOD's took place in the early 1990-s.

It wasn’t sure where the 21st FAT-JAM was going to be held. A new location had been allocated but the neighborhood protested so it’s back to the good old spot, and how. The trails got flattened, but were built back up again with the help of a crane and a dozen riders with a shovel. New lay-out, more space and a few truckloads of good dirt. It would actually have been a shame to leave a spot with so much BMX history, a location that put Aarle-Rixtel on the BMX map, worldwide.

No stress, no security, free to ride, free to spectate, time to ride some trails, even if you never do ride in the dirt. Nobody cares you’re not making it through the lines the first time. If you pull it off at the end of the day that will be your personal victory. Or if you’re learning a new trick, there will be plenty of riders to give you tips. But hey, this is the FAT-JAM, nobody tells you what to do, as long as you have a good time. Bring your own drinks and if you forgot to do some shopping,Monster Energy is bringing some cans of the green stuff to Aarle-Rixtel. And not only that, they’ll set up the DJ booth too so count on some good sound on Saturday 22nd. A BBQ will be set up as well so if you bring the meat, or buy some at the local grocery store (open till 5pm), just throw it on there. If this sounds like something you’re into, come on over. The day starts around 1pm so you can even sleep in. As usual we will do some small competitions around 4pm where you can win some prizes that were donated by our awesome sponsors. They make a fun and free day like this possible so support those who support you. After a full day of riding and hanging out, the program continues at OJA in Aarle-Rixtel. The wildest place in town and a perfect combination when it comes down to a BMX party. Live bands? Count on that. Cheap beer? Sure.

Let's hope this is not becomig a trend; Indoor skateparks on fire. After Newpact burnt down a few months ago this weekend Rollywood over in Arnhem, NL went up in flames. Although the park had been closed for s while it still sucks to lose places like this. Euro Roadfools made a presence there back in the day so if you want to look back at how it used to be, find the DVD.

In the Newspaper was standing a nice articel about the best times of the skatepark.

ARNHEM - Van omwonenden moest de zpndag afgebrande skatehal aan de Bernhardlaan in Arnhem worden opgeknapt of neergehaald. "Dat hebben wij altijd gezegd.

Het gebouw zakte van ellende in elkaar. Alle ruiten waren kapot. Het zag er niet uit", zegt Frans Hinnen, die pal tegenover het afgebrande lokaal woont."In 1996 heeft de gemeente ons beloofd dat zij het gebouw zou afbreken, maar deze belofte, die ik zwart op wit heb staan, is voortdurend gebroken en vooruit geschoven", zegt Hinnen geërgerd. Omwonenden die zondag het gebouw aan de rand van park Angerenstein in de vlammen zagen opgaan, spraken van 'rotte kies' en een 'doorn in het oog'. Woorden die Eric van der Vet, voorzitter van de Stichting Wijkbelangen Angerenstein, wel begrijpt. "Maar hier ben ik niet blij mee. Dit is de verkeerde manier, want het is wel duidelijk dat de brand niet door kortsluiting is ontstaan. Dit is vermoedelijk een vorm van vandalisme."Volgens Van der Vet hadden de wijkbewoners geen problemen met het groepje skaters dat gebruik maakte van de hal. "Zij veroorzaakten geen overlast", zegt Van der Vet. Dat is Hinnen met hem eens. "Het ging ons om de bouwval waar wij al jaren, ondanks de beloften van de gemeente Arnhem, tegenaan moesten kijken", benadrukt hij. Ook volgens de voorzitter maakten de wijkbewoners bezwaar tegen het verslonzen van het park. De stichting heeft wel met de gemeente overleg gevoerd over de noordhoek van park, maar volgens Van der Vet is het nooit tot een plan of afspraken gekomen. "De gemeente had volkomen terecht andere prioriteiten." Er is, aldus de voorzitter, sprake van geweest om het gebouw af te breken. "De gemeente zou zoeken naar een andere locatie voor de skaters." In dat geval zouden er wellicht speeltoestellen worden neergezet op de plek van het skategebouw, vlak naast basisschool De Boomhut. Gelet op die school moest het gebouw ook weg, stelt Hinnen. "Zou er brand uitbreken, dan kon het vuur zomaar op de school overslaan. Met alle gevolgen van dien." Die gevolgen zijn uitgebleven. "Gelukkig wel. Maar nu zijn we bang dat we nog twee jaar tegen deze puinhoop moeten aankijken."
